Is Third Time A Charm? My BCBA Best Personal Blog Finalist on Its Third Row

•

Third time’s a charm” is a famous saying, usually applied to someone who failed twice before finally succeeding on their third try. Personally, I used to try so many things just to prove that I could. Looking back, those days were driven by being overly competitive, but lately, I’ve reached a turning point where I realize it’s okay not to succeed after countless attempts. It is what it is, and if it’s not meant for me, something else is. But how do I find it?

A good charm comes with the kind of mindset where we always manifest things that are good and beneficial, rather than dwelling on negativity and hate comments from others. If I were to compare it to my blogging journey, I would say that charm comes from self-perspective—in how you write and deliver content that speaks to value, accountability, and reliability. I believe that blogging is not just about the things you explore, share, and influence, but also about how you navigate specific stories that honour and value information that can transform and educate your readers. Through that, I think a good charm will find its way to you. From my nine years of being on and off with creating content, I’ve learned that consistency is key to keeping your content remembered.

I Made It Again!

This BCBA nomination and being named one of the finalists for the Best Personal Blog Award for 2026 was actually very unexpected. I wasn’t even expecting to be included in this year’s roster because, deep down, I felt like my blog posts weren’t as impactful as what I delivered four or five years ago. Yet here I am—I made it to the 19th Best Cebu Blogs Awards! It’s a gentle reminder that my content is still relevant and valuable—a good charm leaving its mark to remind me that I am still here and still proving every day what I am capable of. To whoever voted for me for this year’s BCBA, thank you for remembering my worth as a blogger who started with zero experience—just someone who wanted to be part of the blogosphere and escape my sad reality back in 2016.

I still remember my very first blogging gig with an old Cebu blogging community, covering a local mall event and writing an article on my free WordPress site. From there, I built connections, created a brand, and eventually launched my own custom website. Back then, the requirements were much lighter compared to today, where we need to produce cross-platform content across all our social media channels, share stories and reels to highlight campaigns, and even track metrics and stats. Even as the digital age continues to transform the content creation landscape, I always stay true to my core and practice the discipline I built during my early blogging days. That means being swift and publishing content promptly—ensuring my readers get timely updates on key events and campaigns.

In today’s fast-evolving content landscape, our greatest asset as creators is remaining hopeful about new possibilities. This mindset opens broader horizons to build a sustainable career while transforming lives through what we share both online and offline. Sure, there will be restless nights when we find ourselves checking profile stats, worrying over negative comments, or stressing over fluctuating follower counts. But I hope we can shift our perspective—reframing how we view our work and how we let others define what we do as creators.

Before I conclude, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the BCBA and its sponsors.

This is truly another milestone to cherish and celebrate. There are so many amazing finalists who deserve to win across different categories, but win or lose, I’m proud to have made it as a finalist for three consecutive years. That charm will always stay with me, serving as a stepping stone toward the future I hope to build.

R’Bonney Gabriel’s famous line, “If not now, then when?”, is a quote I carry whenever I enter a new chapter in my life. Once you step into that new space, you realize that “Now” is real. With the right mindset and the kind of charm I carry forward, I know I can succeed.
