Last April 3, 2018, Palm Grass The Cebu Heritage Hotel is celebrating the 1st anniversary of their Grand Opening together with the anniversary of Battle of Tres de Abril between the Cebuano Katipuneros and the Spanish Colonizers for Cebu’s liberation on its 120 years since 1898. The grand celebration is themed with “SAYAW, SINGGIT, SAULOG SA UNANG TUIG SA PALM GRASS” and attended by students and special guests.

I witnessed the different activities such as the Symbolic Ride of Horse-riders, Reenactment of Tres de Abril Battle, Cheer Chant Contest, Launching of Tres de Abril videos, Leon Kilat book presentation, and many more.
Inside the Palm Grass Hotel
The Palm Grass hotel is the only heritage hotel where you can find a lot of old artifacts and antique items such as pictures, religious artifacts, musical instruments, furniture, and art pieces. It is a perfect hotel for the tourists because they can discover more about Cebu through old artifacts and historical labels inside the hotel vicinity.

I enjoy the dinner buffet of different Cebuano dishes like Cebu Lechon, Kinilaw, Lumpia Bisaya, and a lot of local dishes. I fully enjoy and satisfied with the flavors. It’s truly a tatak Cebuano dishes. You can experience the dinner buffet for only Php 369.
My Tres de Abril Battle Art Interpretation
This is my personal interpretation of the Battle of Tres de Abril during the Cebuano revolution against Spain on April 3, 1898. It was launched by Pantaleon Villegas y Sodi, also known as Leon Kilat. For further information about the history of Tres de Abril Battle, you can search it online.
This illustration can be a tribute or recognition for Leon Kilat and his descendant for the heroic deeds to fight against the Spaniards. As a Cebuano, I’m really proud to have this kind of heroic events in Cebu during the time of Spanish Colonization. Leon Kilat is one of our pride for Cebu for his bravery and patriotism. I really hope that Cebuano millennials should follow Leon Kilat for his influence and selfless love for the country.

Palm Grass The Cebu Heritage Hotel is one of the hotels that I really amazed. Palm Grass is the only hotel that showcases the different artifacts from Pre-Spanish and Spanish Colonial Era. Aside from that, you can experience the unique and traditional lifestyle of Cebu when you stay at the Palm Grass Hotel. The location is very accessible and you can visit the nearby establishments and historical landmarks in the city. It is a typical hotel for our foreign tourists to provide them a complete stay that they can learn something from our history and culture. They served traditional Cebuano dishes and pastries in a century-old dining setup. Overall, Palm Grass Hotel is excellent in customer service, tourism, and interior design. I wish I could stay longer and have a complete stay like a tourist.
