I’ve always heard good things about Mövenpick Hotel in Mactan, but it wasn’t until my recent stay that I truly understood the hype. Located right by the beach, the place had this relaxed yet refined vibe that made me feel like I was really on a break. Last April 26th, me and Marco of Chibugan Kini had the opportunity to have a weekend getaway in Mactan and decided to check in for an overnight stay at Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu.
Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu is a five-star beachfront resort just 15 minutes away from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport. Known for its Mediterranean-inspired charm, the hotel features 245 stylish rooms and suites with modern touches and private balconies that open up to scenic ocean views. It offers a complete island escape—from diverse dining options like The Sails and The Forum to relaxing wellness treatments at Spa Del Mar, plus signature entertainment at the Ibiza Beach Club. Whether you’re here for a quick breather or a long holiday, this resort brings together comfort, flavor, and leisure in one beautiful destination.
The Arrival
When we arrived at Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu, it felt nostalgic — we had visited the hotel twice before, but only briefly for a food tasting event at their restaurant, The Forum, featuring a Balearic signature course. That’s why I was really excited to finally experience Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu with an overnight stay.
The moment we entered the room, I immediately saw the hotel from a new perspective. The space was clean with a modern touch, featuring a bathroom with a bathtub, and of course, the highlight — a beautiful beach view from the terrace.

Dining at The Forum & The Sails
Our first night at Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu kicked off with a satisfying dinner and cocktails at The Forum — the poolside restaurant that offers a relaxed yet elevated dining experience.
I started with some flavorful appetizers: crispy breaded prawns, cheese balls, and a complimentary basket of bread and chips. These were perfectly paired with refreshing cocktails — a classic Margarita and a unique Ube cocktail called “Himagas”, which means dessert in Filipino. That Ube drink was definitely a fun twist!
For the mains, we went all out. First up was their signature Wagyu Burger — their best-selling item — and for good reason. The portion was generous, the wagyu beef patty was insanely juicy and flavorful, and it took real effort (and appetite!) to finish it because it was that good.
Next came the Pork Baby Back Ribs — tender, rich in flavor, and definitely a standout if you’re a fan of smoky, savory dishes. And then, the most anticipated of them all: the Pasta Seafood Marinara. This one was a total game-changer for me. It had a generous serving of seafood and the marinara sauce was packed with flavor — hands down, the best seafood marinara I’ve tried so far!
To cap off the night, I went for the Roasted Queen Piña — a dessert I fondly remember from my first visit to Mövenpick. It had that sweet, nostalgic kick that reminded me of Christmas. We also tried the Choco Hazelnut Dome, which was basically a rich, chocolatey explosion on the tongue — a dream for any dessert lover.

Wellness at Spa Del Mar
Nestled along the coastline of Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu, Spa Del Mar is a serene wellness hub that blends traditional Filipino healing practices with modern wellness techniques. With six individual treatment rooms, guests can book a private appointment for the perfect relaxation experience — made even better by the calming sound of waves and the stunning beachfront view.
Of course, a staycation at Mövenpick wouldn’t be complete without experiencing their signature spa treatments. So after my dinner break in the hotel room, we finally indulged in some well-deserved wellness time.
To give you a better idea of what to expect, I’ve included some photos and service rates of Spa Del Mar below — trust me, the space is as beautiful as it is calming.
That evening at the spa was more than just relaxing — it was also quite informative. We had the chance to briefly chat with one of their therapists, who explained that each spa treatment can be fully customized depending on the areas you want to focus on. In my case, I asked for extra attention on my lower back and shoulders — the usual tension zones from long hours of sitting and carrying my work bag around.
Another great part of the experience was choosing our preferred massage oil scent. I went for Sampaguita, a soft, mild aroma that instantly put me at ease. I believe Marco chose Lemongrass, which makes sense since he often uses lemongrass-based liniments for muscle relief.

The treatment room itself was clean, organized, and well-prepared — complete with spa beds, foot wash areas, and vanity spaces for showering or freshening up before the session. That one hour of mid-pressure massage felt like a complete reset. The muscle aches I had were noticeably relieved, and I genuinely felt lighter afterward.
Overall, Spa Del Mar is truly a hidden gem within Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu — offering high-quality wellness services in an environment that nurtures peace and relaxation.
After the session, I headed back to the room, did a quick scroll through social media, and called it a night — relaxed, recharged, and ready for the next day.
The Sails Restaurant
Starting the Day with a Good Breakfast
On the next morning of our stay, we couldn’t wait to jump out of bed and start another day of adventures at Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu.
Breakfast at The Sails, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, was definitely one of the highlights of the stay. From the moment we walked in, I could tell this wasn’t going to be your average hotel breakfast. What really stood out was how interactive the whole experience felt. There were live cooking stations where you could watch your food being made fresh, a vibrant salad bar bursting with color, an open pizza kitchen that smelled absolutely amazing, and a tempting selection of desserts and pastries that I couldn’t resist trying.
The buffet offered an impressive range of both Eastern and Western flavors, so there was definitely something to satisfy every craving. Whether I was in the mood for something light, like fresh fruit and yogurt, or a heartier dish like eggs and bacon, there was always a choice that hit the spot. And if you’re not into buffets, don’t worry — they also offer an à la carte menu. I also loved that they have a special Power Bites menu just for kids if you’re traveling with little ones — a thoughtful touch for families.
Breakfast at The Sails is served daily from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM, and for walk-in guests, the full buffet experience is available for Php 1,200 net per person. Trust me, with the variety of options and the quality of food, it’s well worth it.

À La Carte Menu & Themed Dinner
The Sails excels beyond breakfast with its impressive à la carte menu. I was genuinely impressed by the variety of dishes available — highlights include the light and refreshing Seafood Tabouleh, the irresistible Mövenpick Signature Angus Beef Burger, the satisfying Grilled Steak Sandwich, and the flavorful Bibimbap. Whether you’re craving something adventurous or just in the mood for a comforting classic, there’s something for everyone.

If you’re planning to enjoy dinner at The Sails, make sure to check out their themed dinner buffets. Each night features a different theme inspired by cuisines from all around the world, so there’s always something exciting to look forward to. From weekday dinners to weekend feasts, the variety keeps things interesting. But if I had to pick a favorite, I’d say the Filipino Fiesta every Friday is a must-try. It’s a perfect opportunity to indulge in well-loved local dishes in a festive, lively setting. Trust me, it’s an experience you don’t want to miss.
Garden Cabana Experience
One of the hidden gems I discovered during my stay at Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu was the Garden Cabana experience — and let me tell you, it’s the perfect spot if you’re looking to unwind in style or celebrate a special moment in an intimate setting. Tucked away in the lush garden area of the resort, these cabanas offer a cozy, private lounge space ideal for anniversaries, birthdays, or simply a quiet escape from the crowd.
There are four Garden Cabanas to choose from, and each booking includes exclusive use for four hours, good for two guests, anytime between 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. If you’re loving the vibe and want to extend your stay, hourly extensions are available too.
What really made it special for me was the thoughtful inclusions — the rental comes with a beach kit that includes a cold towel, beach towel, toilet and bath amenities, and even a pack of sweet treats. It’s these little touches that make the experience feel extra pampering.

One of our favorite moments was we ordered good food, watching the beachfront view with tropical trees and a peaceful and quiet vibe. The private comfort cottage plus a jacuzzi was actually a great extra to feel the cabana experience since we rented the Cabana IV. These are the food we ordered while chilling at Cabana IV.
Fresh Buko Juice, Spaghetti Carbonara, Flammkuchen (a creamy sauce with shredded mozzarella, bacon and roasted garlic), Korean Fried Chicken, Croque Monsieur (a toasted croissant with béchamel sauce, ham, cheese, and fresh fries as sides), and coke in cans.
These selections was actually our top picks since these are our favorites every time we had a good chill in the beach or in a resort.
Overall, my time at the Garden Cabanas was a truly charming and exclusive way to soak in the tropical beauty of Mactan. I absolutely loved how serene and private the experience was — it felt like a peaceful retreat, just a stone’s throw from the beach. And the food? It was genuinely delightful. Having delicious dishes served right to our cabana made the whole experience feel even more indulgent and relaxing.

Free Time at the Pool and Beach
Before checking out, we made sure to enjoy a bit of free time — and what better way to do that than by soaking in the pool? It was such a refreshing experience, especially with those unique lounge chairs placed right inside the pool. I remember thinking how relaxing it would’ve been to hang out there the night before, but we had prioritized our dinner and spa session. No regrets though — everything happened at the perfect time.
As a final treat before wrapping up our stay, we headed to the beach, and it was the perfect way to end our trip. Feeling the salty breeze, the warmth of the sun, and the white sand under my feet was something I had on my personal checklist. It reminded me why I love Cebu so much — nature, calm, and just enough adventure to make you feel alive. A simple yet meaningful moment I’ll always remember.

The Overall Mövenpick Cebu Experience
When it comes to summer getaways or resort destinations in Cebu — or even the Visayas — Mactan Island always stands out. With its proximity to the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, it’s an ideal spot for both local and foreign travelers looking for a quick escape or a well-deserved holiday.
As a local tourist, I can honestly say that Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu has now earned a top spot on my list of favorite places in Mactan. The resort feels more private, which I really appreciated, and almost everything you need for a perfect staycation is already inside.
Let’s talk food — easily one of the best parts of the experience. From the generous servings during our dinner to the wide selection at the breakfast buffet, Mövenpick definitely knows how to keep guests well-fed and happy. Every dish we tried was flavorful and satisfying — a definite win in my book.
Another must-try? Spa Del Mar. I found it to be more than just a spa — it felt like a moment of healing and reconnection with myself. Their Filipino-style wellness approach adds something special to the experience, reminding you to slow down, breathe, and simply take care of yourself. For me, it was a highlight of the stay.
And of course, I can’t forget the Garden Cabana — such a cozy and peaceful spot where you can relax, nap, or enjoy a meal surrounded by nature. What’s great is that it’s also open for walk-in guests, so even if you’re not checked in, you can still enjoy that kind of comfort.

Honestly, I’m more than willing to spend on a vacation where everything is thoughtfully provided, and Mövenpick exceeded my expectations. From the service to the amenities and overall vibe — I felt truly taken care of. I’d personally rate my Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu experience a solid 9.5 out of 10.
There’s still so much more to explore, and I’m already looking forward to trying their other amenities and services on my next visit. Huge thanks to the hotel team and staff for the warm hospitality. It was a truly memorable stay here in Mactan Cebu.
