I’m writing this while I’m away from home. I’ve been feeling homesick and wishing I could go back, but I reminded myself why I’m here in the U.S. to fulfill my purpose and continue what I planned. Even with just a small spark left in my heart, that tiny flame of hope reminds me to keep going and to become a better creator again.
I wasn’t sure if I could ever let go blogging. It’s the platform I started, learned from, and even invested in to keep the page exist. I’ve been paying for the domain and hosting service each year just to preserve the blog I began back in 2017. It’s something I want to keep and revisit when I feel unmotivated. This blog reminds me that I was once a dreamer, someone who found inspiration in writing stories and turning them into meaningful pieces. But as time passed, I got caught up in my career, constantly chasing new goals and trying to achieve more. I remember one day asking myself, “Why did I leave myself behind?”. During that time, I was battling my own demons quietly with a sense of shame that kept me from opening up, even to the people closest to me.

Those were the challenges I tried to ignore, but reality always finds a way to remind me when I look back. If you were to ask me whether I’ve lost my spark, I’d say no. Because even the tiniest spark is enough to start a flame again — and that’s something I still hold on to.
Another BCBA moment in 2025.
When Marco of Chibugan Kini messaged me that I was one of the BCBA 2025 finalists for the Best Personal Blog category, I was both surprised and a little confused. But seeing my name again on the BCBA finalists poster brought a rush of joy and pride. In that moment, I felt my motivation to write slowly returning the excitement, the hope, and the purpose to create more meaningful content once again.
Opportunities like this remind me to rebuild my sense of value and trust in my craft, especially when I tend to focus too much on numbers and community relevance. This isn’t my first nomination; last year, I was also a finalist for the same category. I didn’t win, but I was honored to receive the Founder’s Choice Award of 2024. Maybe they saw something in my blog, maybe a spark that still has the potential to grow. I know some people might think I’ve already retired or stepped away from the blogging scene, but truthfully, I’m still here. I still write whenever I find the time to sit down and let my thoughts flow into words. Quitting is always an option, but keeping your work alive and maintaining your presence is what truly keeps you relevant. Because your words remain, and someone out there will always find them.

About Best Cebu Blogs Awards

The Best Cebu Blogs Awards is an annual ceremony dedicated to Cebu-based bloggers — a pioneering platform that celebrates homegrown creators who write, document, inspire, and share from the heart. It’s a tribute to Cebuano voices in the blogging world, showing that the stories we tell here in the Visayas matter, resonate, and proudly stand alongside content from anywhere else in the world. BCBA honors the best Cebu-based blogs and bloggers, reminding us that even our little corners of the internet can make a big impact.
Being part of this community is truly a privilege I don’t take for granted. None of this would be possible without the amazing sponsors and partners who make this event happen.

The turning point for me has been learning to keep going with the things that ignite my spark. A tiny flame can grow into a roaring fire if you fuel it with the right energy — just like how self-trust and strong intuition can empower you to inspire yourself again. With patience and belief in your own journey, that small spark can burn bright, like a torch leading the way to success.
This kind of recognition is a testament to the value of blogging with integrity — creating content that builds community, informs, and empowers readers. While social media platforms have become the primary source of information, blog articles remain uniquely powerful. They capture the thoughts, experiences, and insights of the blogger — a virtual diary that anyone can read, relate to, and learn from. Let’s continue writing, inspiring people, and shaping the future.
